INSTRUMENTATION TECHNICIAN:

Under limited supervision, installs, tests and repairs instrumentation systems utilized by production equipment to ensure adherence to established performance levels and product quality. Performs a variety of complicated tasks. May lead and direct the work of others. Typically reports to a supervisor and/or manager. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected.

POS. REQ.: Successful completion of coursework in basic principles of electricity, hydraulics, and pneumatics. Certification with ISA (levels I, II or III). Experience with PLC’s, SCADA systems, DCS, Radio Networks and UPS. Completion of an appropriate sequence of courses in distributed process control from a recognized training provider or completion of plant operations apprenticeship is a plus.

 

PROCESS CONTROL OPERATOR:

Perform field activities including:

(i) monitor gauges, measure pump, vacuum, instrument and service air pressure, hydraulics; (ii) monitor suction and discharge elevation; (iii) monitor reservoir and weir elevation, and discharge valve positioning; (iv) troubleshoot any problems; (v) perform direct startup and stopping of pumps in accordance with the load demand; perform minor repairs to equipment, as may be required; (vi) request repair and generate WOs for maintenance service, as may be needed; (vii) respond to emergency situations and immediately notify the appropriate personnel and treatment operations; (viii) coordinate Control Systems functions with other systems operations staff; (ix) apply the capabilities, application, policies, procedures and protocol of process control system administration; (x) set up process pumping and distribution, wastewater collection and water or wastewater treatment processing equipment status using graphical objects displayed; (xi) accumulate process operation data and use historical and current process trends to initiate process control changes as conditions warrant.

 POS. REQ.: The ability to: (i) climb ladders and scaffolding; (ii) work in confined spaces, elevated locations and descend underground; (iii) lift a minimum of 50 pounds; (iv) walk, stand, or work for long periods of time; (v) demonstrate normal color perception; (vi) hear audible alarms and detect abnormal equipment sounds; (vii) visually inspect equipment and processes at any time of day or night; (viii) wear respiratory protection when necessary and other personal protective equipment; and (ix) at specific job sites may require the ability to carry, stack, dig, shovel, hit, push, pull and other efforts that require considerable physical strength.
